Celdrick's Scribepost for Dec 4 2009

On Friday we had a one question quiz about estimating square roots and the question was: Estimate the square root 67. This is how you solve the problem.

First: Find the closest perfect square that is before 67 and after 67. It is between 64 and 91. The square root of 64 is 8 and 81 is 9.

Second: Check if its closer to 64 or 81. So now we see that it's close to 64.

Third: Estimate the square root; if 64's square root is 8 then we know that 67's square root is somewhere in 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3.

AND.. This is one question we did from the Home Work Booklet. Pg 28 question 3.
