Kenneth's 2 Minutes to Make a Difference

My Draft xD

My Final Copy xD

The Comments you guys posted up on YouTube (spmath) were very helpful, but the thing about the Microphones is that We don't have any so thats why In the final video we didn't have the talking parts in. I also didn't find an expert because it was Kind of hard to search for a person that knows animal cruelty/abuse.

In the Internet I was trying to search for an expert for our video but unfortunately We had no luck because finding these experts about Animal Cruelty Is not in the internet so that was why we were unsuccessful.

My greatest success was that I made My first video and that I'm very proud of It.
In the future I will be taking my editing skills because I need work on them, also I will be taking The CC Pictures with me and the script that we made together.

The thing that frustrated me most was that my Pictures in the windows movie maker wouldn't upload so I had to think of ways to upload them so I had one way of putting the pictures in, and thats by putting the pictures on the desktop, so that's how I made them not look like X's on the movie maker, that's how I became successful, oh and I self learned this myself on how to put the pictures back.

The reason why It Is very Important Is because When you start this project, then you get to know more about what the project Is actually about and that Is why making your own videos is a way of showing that you can do these things in the future. You can also learn things just by watching the videos and that Its also important that when you do these kinds of projects then you may know what you have done in grade 8. This project is important because you people can self learn things on your own to become independent and also learn more about things like computers. You also learn about things of what's going on In the world and you can picture them In your mind of what is actually going to happen. But from what I heard is that when you try and make a difference then you become happy and try to make more of a difference. Its just like doing good deeds for everyone.

What I would try to do Is that If people start to abuse their own animals then I would step up ask them nicely to stop abusing them and treat them as family!~

Kenneth's percent Scribepost for Feb 7

A few days back, we were asked to do 3 questions (any) from page's 148-150.

Question 4 Pg 148

Chris purchased the following items:
-2 binders for $4.99
-1 math set for $3.99
-a backpack for 19.99
Find the total cost including 5% GST and 7% PST.

What I did was that I added all 3 of them to make $33.96.
I also added 5% GST and 7% PST to make 12%
so I multiplied $33.96 x 1.12 = 38.04

Question 4 (pg 150)
How many hundred grids are needed to show each of the following percents?
a)101% = 2 hundred grids
b)589% = 6 hundred grids
c)1450% = 15 hundred grids

Question 10 (Pg 149)
what is the total cost for four tires that sell for $85 each, plus 5% GST and 1.5% environmental tax.
First I multiplied $85 x 4 = $340 because the question said "four" tires, after that i started multiplying $340 x 1.065 = $362.10

please leave a comment. and sorry it was late. This is me and my 4 people and i don't have the other one yet.

Scribepost for January 6, 2010

Today in class Mr.Harbeck told us to choose any question from 110-113 so I am doing question 6~!

You are asked to check the design plans for a baseball diamond. Is the triangle a right triangle? Explain.

I don't think its a right triangle because on either side of the baseball diamond its still not a right triangle.

P.S I know that you don't get this but the thing is that without a picture you still wont know so thats why I don't know how to rotate a picture in paint!     D:!

Kenneth's Pay It Forward

Part 1
In the movie called "Pay It Forward", Paying it forward means that if you help one person then that person will help 3 more people and it will keep on multiplying and multiplying. In that movie Trevor wanted to change the world by helping one person, Jerry. Jerry wanted to make up for what Trevor did for him and he wanted to fix Trevor's truck and he payed it forward. Well same for me and everyone else in my group!
For what pay it forward means to me is that putting bags or envelops filled with candy inside mailboxes is that when people from their homes look inside their mailboxes then they will think that it was from me and my friends who did this with me and from the Sargent park, it's like in that movie when someone makes a good deed that people are willing to make a change, and it's also helping others too because if you can't help them then you will feel very guilty inside. It's not always about you but for others also! So get out of your tiny little box of things that don't concern other people and start helping others get a smile ^^!

Part 2
Me, Devin,Ronny, and Alex were putting candy and chocolate inside bags. We put them inside mailboxes so that if a person checks inside a mailbox for "mail" then there shall be candy wrapped inside a bag along with the mail. But first we had to put the candy inside the bag "OUTSIDE!" which was freezing and almost felt like 30 degrees outside and after that we went to peoples homes and put them inside their mailboxes. We started this yesterday right after school.

Part 3
I don't actually know if we made a difference when we put our bags in mailboxes but i hope that it will give them a happy face. While we were doing this, it gave me a smile inside.

Part 4
Pay It Forward means that you help someone by giving them a present or anything that will make them happy because hardly anyone gives out things to others so I'll say that i will give them a card and that you will pay it forward to someone else, but if you give them a smile then your happy inside to, that means you have payed it forward. that's what i think ^^, so um everyone please pay it forward

Kenneth's scribepost for December 8

Today Mr.Harbeck choose me to do the homework book and the textbook page from page 86

In the textbook this is the question in page 86:

Determine the value: a)9 b)25 c)1600

ok in order to get the answer i used my calculator to find those answers by hitting square root:

a)9=3 b)25=5 c)1600=40

Homework Book:

In page 24 are just key ideas and practises.

A.

1. A whole number that has only two factors, 1 and itself

prime number

2.The product of the same tow numbers.

Perfect Square

3. The number that equals a given value when you multiply the number by itself.

Prime factorization

4. The product of the same two factors.

Square Root

5. A number written as the product of its prime of its prime factors.

Square number

plz correct me if im wrong!

Now on to Practise and Apply part yay ^^

6. a) Determine the prime factorization of 30. Show your work.

36=6x6

=3x2x3x2

=6x6

this is my work

b) Is 36 a perfect square? Explain your thinking.

Yes, because If you have a square of an area of 36cm square and the square had 6 on each side then yea its a perfect square.

c) Draw a quadrilateral that shows whether or not 36 is a perfect square. Label its side lengths.

7.Janie's backyard has an area of 100m2.

a) Determine the prime factorization of 100. show your work.

100=10x10
= 5x5x4

this is my work and uh sorry but i don't have a picture on this one

b) Is 100 a perfect square? Explain your thinking.
Yes, because if you have a 10x10 square on each side then it counts as 100 because its a huge square.

My story on how I actually stopped an alien invasion using proportion

An alien has landed from another planet. It crash landed in my backyard. The alien said to me that "if you can't solve 3 questions then say goodbye to your earth" and so I have to answer his 3 questions, but if I make any of the 3 questions wrong then my planet is gone, and I mean long gone!

The aliens tested me if i can get proportion in all 3 questions right so i took on the challenge.

8. Determine the missing value

a) 2 10 b) 7 14

- = - - = -
3 15 5 35

c) 30 6 d) 3 12
- = - - = -

Kenneth's Percent, Rate ,Growing Post

In Class we have to make 1 part for the weekend.

Ratio: Compares two different quantites

Rate: Compares two different measurements with different units.

What do the both mean?

Ratio is different then Rate because Ratio can compare different quantites that are related to eachother, and Rate is like for example when your jumping up and down you can feel your heart beating, when you touch your pulse you can feel that your beating fast and then your actually counting how many beats you have till it cools down.

Question 8 Page 60,

a)What is the unit price for each carton
of milk?
0.236 cents, 0.218cents, 0.199 cents

b) What is the unit price per 100 mL for
the l-L carton?
For 1-L Carton its 0.001 Cents or 1 cent

c) Which carton of milk is the best buy?
Explain why.
The small one because it costs 1 cent in unit price.

Question 10 Page 61,

Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in
3 h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is
the faster cyclist? How do you know?
First of all they both have the same speed.
Second If you divide 84 by 3 you get 28 and if you divide 70 by 2.5 you get 28 so yea they have the same speed.

Coin math Question: If you have 1000 coins in a jar and your putting a dollar each day, how much money in the whole year do you have now?

Answer: 365dollars/year

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2

For HomeWork today we have to answer 2 questions.

1) What would the recipe look like if it had to serve 10 people? Show your calculations.

2) What would the recipe look like if you had to only serve 1 person? Show your calculations.

In order to find the ingredients for 10 people you need to (x) it by 2.5 for each and you will get 10!

Ingredients to feed 10 people

1 1/4 Ib Ground Beef
2 1/2 medium onion diced
2 1/2 celery finely sliced
2 1/2 clove of garlic
35 oz can of tomatoes chopped
1 1/4 can of tomato paste
2 1/2 tsp parsley
3 3/4 tsp basil
2 1/2 tsp oregano
2 1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp Worchestershire Sauce
1 1/4 tsp seasoning salt
2 1/2 bay leaf

Ingredients to feed 1 person

1/8 lb ground beef
1/4 medium onion diced
1/4 celery finely sliced
1/4 clove of garlic
3.5 oz can of tomatoes chopped
1/8 can of tomato paste
1/4 tsp of parsley
0.375/7.5ml tsp of basil
1/4 tsp of oregano
1/4 tsp of sugar
1/8 tsp of Worchestershire Sauce
1/8 tsp of seasoning salt
1/4 bay leaf

and this is what it looks like when I divide each by 4.

Comment please

My BOB & Ratio

Today in our class we are suppose to pick a picture to put in our blog so
I picked the handy candy.

Part-to-Part Ratios:

Green:Red Blue:Yellow Blue:Red
6:6 1:4 1:6

Part-to-Total:

Blue to Total: 1:17

Green to Total: 6:17

Red to Total: 6:17

Yellow to Total: 4:17

Part-to-part-to-Part Ratio:

Blue:Red:Yellow
1:6:4

Red:Green:Blue
6:6:1

Green:Yellow:Red
6:4:6

The ratio that I'm going to do is 1:4
1:4

0.25

0.25%

My questions are:

1) What is the Ratio of Red to Black to Green to Total?
2) What is the Ratio of Green to Purple to Yellow to Total?
3) What is the Ratio of Red to Silver to Green to Total?

Sorry about the picture because whenever i added the URL link to the Add Image and Clicked done, It never showed up.

Part 2
What were the mistakes you made on your first test. Show examples of answers that were wrong. What was your mistake. How will you remember what to do in future tests.
On the first question, I didn't get what the question means So i kinda messed up, and on question 16 I got no clue on finding how much votes did carol get so i also messed that one up to. But in the future tests i gotta sharpen up and study for the upcoming tests.

What I Also need work on is to get to know my ratio tables and my division and also my multiplication math to.

These are my questions that are hard to figure out
1) In group of 84 students surveyed, the ratio of student preference is seven oatmeal eaters to four granola eaters to three toasted O eaters

Of the 84 students, How much prefer Oatmeal?
Of 84 students, how much prefer granola?
What percent(to one decimal place) of the group prefers toasted O's?

2) In this question I Didn't get what lowest term means so well I'll just say it.
write each ration in lowest terms

please answer them

Ratio Homework Questions 1-2

1)Janine wants to write the ratio of oranges to apples.
How does she know whether to write 3:4 or 4:3?
The answer is that if the 3 apples and the 4 oranges are different then write down 3:4 and if its 4 oranges and 3 apples then write down 4:3, either way its still the same.

2)Your friend missed the class when ratios were introduced. Use an example and draw a diagram to explain the difference between a part-to-part ratio and a part-to-whole ratio.

This is part-to-part ratio:

and this is a part-to-whole ratio:

Scribepost for Oct.14, 2009

In class we were suppose to define the ratios:
two - term ratio,
three - term ratio,
part to part ratio,
part to whole ratio,
unit rate,
unit price,
and proportion,

Two-Term Ratio: Compares two quantities measured to the same units written as a:b or a to b.
eg. 2:4 2 to 4

Three-Term Ratio: Compares three quantites measured in the same units, written as a:b:c or a to b to c. eg. 2:4:6 4 to 6 to 2

Part to Part Ratio: Compares different parts of a group together.

Part to Whole Ratio: Compares one part of a group to the whole group.
Can be written as 2:3 or b / c

Unit Ratio: It's a rate in which the second term is 1.
eg. 5 km per hr is a unit rate.

Unit Price: It's a rate that involves prices.
eg. $2/hr is a unit price.

Proportion: Is Used to compare two ratios or make equivalent fractions.

I'm going to tell u about the 4 four's

4 4
-- + -- = 2
4 4

4/4 + 4/4= 2

The similarities are:
- Both have 4 four's
- they both equal to 2
- they both divide

The differences are:
they have different order of operation and a different kind of problem.

Kenneth's coin math for oct 11, 2009

For homework Mr.Harbeck gave us a math question about the coin jar. He said to pick 1 purple and 1 any colour besides black.

1. How much do the coins add up to?
The answer to that question is $100

2. Would the jar look the same if it were Canadian money?
No because if it were Canadian money then it would be different then US money, because if u take Canadian money then the coins would be more shinier.

uh please comment!

Coin Math part 2
Today we have to do the combination part and this is what i got,
10 rolls for 5 cents, 6 rolls for 25 cents, 3 rolls for 10 cents, 1 roll for $1 and $2,

How full is the jar if u either use U.S.A money or Canadian money?
The jar is 3/4 (75%) full and if u use either U.S.A or Canadian money then it would still be 75% full because it's still the same.

What i know about graphing are: Line Graphs, Bar Graphs, and Double Bar Graphs.

Bar Graph:

A Bar Graph is a rectangle shape that's meant to measure the total or how tall depending which ones the highest.

Line Graphs:

Line graphs are used to increase rating or to monitor heart rate or statistics and more.

Double Bar Graph:

A Double Bar Graph is chart used when comparing peoples number of how much they have this year and how much they have the next year.
