Ralph and BOB Ratio October 20 2009

Today in class we did alot of work with dealing with ratios. Our homework today was to do a post that had:

3 part to part ratios, 2 part to total ratios and 2 three part ratios

Then I had to:

write that ratio in ratio notation, fraction, decimal and percent form.

Next I would have to:

pick one and show how to create equivalent ratios.

Finally create 3 questions that you want people to answer in the comments. Do not make them to hard or too easy.

Part to Part Ratios
Green to Blue=7:1
Red to Green=6:7
Red to Yellow=6:4

Part to Total Ratios
Red to Total=6:18
Blue to Total=1:18

Three Part Ratios
Red to Blue to Yellow=6:1:4
Red to Blue to Green=6:1:7

Converting Ratio to a : Fraction, Decimal, and Percent

Red to Total : 6:18 or 6/18 or 0.33 (Infinite) or 33.33(infinite) %

Simplifying Ratios

6:18 simplified would be 1/3
6 (divided) by 6 is 1
18 (divided) by 6 is 3
6:18 = 1/3 = 0.33(infinite)

THE 3 QUESTIONS!!!

1. Express the ratio Yellow to Red in a Ratio, Fraction, Decimal, and Percent.

2. What would the ratio be if the Yellow to Red ratio if the ratio was simplified.

3. What would be the ratio of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow: Total

ANSWER MY QUESTIONS!
Some mistakes I made on my test were that:
1)I didn't read the questions well enough.
One question was about votes for student council.
The part I didn't read well enough was that the ratio had to be GIRLS to BOYS .
The ratio I put was boys to girls so I got the question wrong.
2)I should find more easier and faster ways to solve harder equations.
For question 17 I had to find out what two teams were equivalent.
I spent alot of time looking for a number that I could multiply the two numbers by, when I could have,
divide the first number by the second number and see which ones match.
3)I need to always go over the test again in case I missed a question.
I could of gotten more marks if I read over all the questions. Question number 16 was a really easy question but I accidentally skipped it and went onto the next question.
QUESTIONS
1. A picture frame has a width to length ratio of 10:14. If the width of the photo is 18 cm , the length of the photo is _______
a) 22 b)25.2 c)28 d) 32
2. A stable has 78 horses. Of these horses, 52 are brown, 16 are white and the rest are black. Express the ratio in the lowest terms of brown to white to black horses.
a) 26:4:5 b)13:4:2 c) 52:16:10 d) 26:8:5

Yellow to Red
4:6
y/r=4/6
0.66....
66.66..%

Yellow to Red
4:6 /2 = 2:3
Simplified it would be 2:3

Red, Green, Blue, Yellow to Total
18:18

1. Express the ratio Yellow to Red in a Ratio, Fraction, Decimal, and Percent.
4:6 = 4/6 = 0.66 continued = 66.66%continued

2. What would the ratio be if the Yellow to Red ratio if the ratio was simplified.
4:6 = 2:3
I divided 4 by 2 to get 2 and I divided 6 by 2 to get 3 so the ratio simplified is 2:3.

3. What would be the ratio of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow: Total
24:18

1. Express the ratio Yellow to Red in a Ratio, Fraction, Decimal, and Percent.

yellow : red
4 : 6

fraction- 4/6
decimal- 0.66 ...
percent- 66.66 .. %

2. What would the ratio be if the Yellow to Red ratio if the ratio was simplified.

2 : 3

3. What would be the ratio of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow: Total

red + green + blue + yellow : total

18:18

1. A picture frame has a width to length ratio of 10:14. If the width of the photo is 18 cm , the length of the photo is _______

b) 25.2

10 X 1.4 = 14
18 X 1.4 = 25.2

2. A stable has 78 horses. Of these horses, 52 are brown, 16 are white and the rest are black. Express the ratio in the lowest terms of brown to white to black horses.

d) 26:8:5

52 + 16 = 68 - 78 = 10 = black horses.

52 / 2 = 26
16 / 2 = 8
10 / 2 = 5

5 cannot be divided into a whole number so 26:8:5 are the lowest terms.
