How I Stopped An Alien Invasion

It was a peaceful day in 2012 until there was an alien invasion!! We had to stop them by answering 3 questions. There was at least 300 of them.
Here are the 3 questions.

1) A small gear turns 18 times in the same
time that a large gear turns 4 times. How
many times will the large gear turn if
the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a
diagram to help set up a proportion and
solve the problem.

I solved this by multiplying 18 to 3 and what I did on the top i also had to multiply
4 by 3.
So x= 12
If the small gear turns 54 times the big gear will turn 12 times.

YEA... 100 aliens got eliminated! Only 200 more!

2) Two quarters have the same value as ten
nickels. What is the value of five quarters
in nickels?

quarters 2 5
------- = --- = ---
nickels 10 x

To find the value we have to divide 2 by 2 so we get 1.
So now divide 10 by 2 and we get 5.
Now 1 quarter equals 5 nickels.
We now multiply 1 by 5 and we'll get 5
Now multiply 5 by 5 and we get 25.
So x equals 25.
Five quarters equals 25 nickels.

Now 100 more of the aliens got eliminated.
Only 100 more aliens.
Only 1 more question.

3) David can saw a log into three pieces in
7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant
rate, how long will it take him to saw a
similar log into six pieces?

logs 3 6
---- = --- = ---
mins 7 x

So multiply 3 by 2 and we get 6.
Now we multiply 7 by 2.
So we get 14.
David can saw 6 logs in 14 mins.

Now one more 100 aliens got eliminated. But one of the alien had a baby!!

Should we eliminate it?

Good Job Celdrick! I liked how you put some pictures but maybe next time you should add more colour.
