300/3=100 2.19/3=$0.73
500/5=100 3.09/5=$0.62
700/7=100 4.83/7=$0.69

b) Which package is the best buy? Explain your choice.
The 500g package costs the least per 100g.

Shannon buys 12 granola bars for $9.96.
a) Determine the price per bar. Give your answer in dollars and cents.
12/12=1 9.96/12=0.83
b) Explain whether your answer in part a)is a ratio or a rate.
It's a rate because we're comparing 2 things with different units of measurement

Definitions:
Ratio-a way to compare 2 quantities, sort of like a fraction but only sideways example: (a word ratio) pears to apples (a regular number ratio) 1:3
there are many ways to compare different numbers in a ratio (part to part to part, part to whole, etc.)
Rate- when you compare 2 things in different units. example: $12/per hour

Coin Math Question:
If there were 370 coins in the Canadian currency jar and they were evenly divided within 5 jars, what would be the rate of coins per jar?

370/5=74 74/per jar


Ingredients for Spaghetti Sauce:
1/2 lb ground beef
1 medium onion diced
1 celery finely sliced
1 clove garlic
14 oz can of tomatoes chopped
1/2 can of tomato paste
1 tsp parsley
1 1/2 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano

This Recipe serves 4 people

A)Rewrite the recipe so that it serves 10 people.
a)Multiply everything by 2.5,
1/2 lb ground beef-1 1/4 lb ground beef
1 medium onion diced-2 and 1/2 of diced onion
1 celery finely sliced-2 and 1/2 finely sliced celery
1 clove garlic-2 and 1/2 clove garlic
14 oz can of tomatoes chopped-35 oz can of tomatoes chopped
1/2 can of tomato paste-1 and 1/4 can of tomato paste
1 tsp parsley-2 and 1/2 tsp parsley
1 1/2 tsp basil-3 and 3/4 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano-2 and 1/2 tsp parsley
1 tsp sugar-2 and 1/2 tsp parsley
1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce-1 and 1/4 tsp Worchestershire sauce

b)I used just divided the original recipe by 4 to get my answer.

1 1/2 tsp basil-I couldn't get this one, this is the decimal I came up with (0.375)
1 tsp oregano-1/4 tsp oregano
1 tsp sugar-1/4 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce-1/8 tsp Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp seasoning salt-1/8 tsp seasoning salt
1 bay leaf-1/4 of a bay leaf
