### Connor's Percent Scribepost for Feb 3

Hello anyone who is reading this. My job was to do three questions from my class work today.

Question 4 Pg 148

Chris purchased the following items:
-2 binders at \$4.99 each
-1 math set for \$3.99
-a backpack for \$19.99

Find the total cost including 5% GST and 7% PST.

First I added all the items.
2 binders \$9.98 + 1 math set \$3.99 + a backpack \$19.99= \$33.96

Now you have to find the added taxes which is 12%.
I found 10% first which was \$3.40.
Then I found 1% which was \$0.34.
0.34 x 2 = 0.68
3.40 +0.68 = 4.08
33.96 + 4.08 = \$38.04

Question 4 Pg.150

How many hundred grids are needed to show each of the percents.

A)101% = 2 hundred grids
B)589% = 6 hundred grids
C)1450% = 15 hundred grids

Question 10 Pg 149

What is the total cost for four tires that sell for \$85 each, plus 5% GST and 1.5% environment tax.

I found the total for the four tires which was \$340.
Then I found 1% of 340 = 3.40.
3.40 x 6 = \$20.40
0.5% = 1.70
1.70 + 20.40= \$22.10
340 + 22.10 = \$362.10

The total for the four tires is \$362.10.

Good job connor. for the first question you did, you couldve just rounded the .99 to another dollar to make things easier. Then for the second question you couldve added pictures to give more of a clear understanding to why you need that many grids. For all the questions, you couldve went in detail between each step to how you got the numbers to solve the particular questions. But overall good job (:
