Question. 10

What is the minimum distance the player at third base has to throw the ball to get the runner out at first base? Express your answer to the nearest tenth of a metre.

A squared + B squared = C squared
27 squared + 27 squared = C squared
27x27 + 27x27 = C squared
729 + 729 = C squared
1458 = C squared
Square root of 1458 = Square root of C squared
38.18 = C squared

The distance is 38m

OH DARLENE THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD. one thing i have to say is something about how you found the square root of 1458. You should of rounded it to the nearest TENTH, of a meter so the answer should really be 38.2M . Oh for next time also if you want to make the POWER sign, instead of saying squared it is when you hold ALT and press 253. that gives you the sign, and for the square root sign. you can click start, all programs, accecories, system tools, and then click character map. Search through it and until you find the square root sign and THERE YOU HAVE IT. GOOD SCRIBE DARLENNNNE

To add more to what Josh said, you can also press and hold ALT key while typing 0178 on the numpad to get the squared sign.

Good job Darlene! I second Josh's comment on the squared. Next time try to actually use the squared sign, but it's okay. Even I had a hard time making a squared sign. :P

thx u all for adding on to what i was trying to say. also thank u for teaching me that harv, and april. i never knew how to make the sign with holding tab.

I mean alt. And darlene, another way i think that would help explain it is if u drew the right angled triangle on paint. good work .

Good job Darlene! Your work stood out well. I like the colours you used, and I second to everyone else's comment on making a squared sign, and a square ROOT sign. Again, good job, and keep up the good work my friend.

Good job Darlene! I liked the colors you picked it made it look nice and it makes you want to tread your post. Your explanation was good but like what everyone was saying about the little mistake you made. Next time just make sure you read the question carefully but otherwise it was a good scribe post.
