Axis break
Dots/information

Axis Break- a break in the y-axis that lets you jump from 1 number to another rather than a  continuous set of numbers.

 1. Explain how this graph could be misleading.
a) The axis break makes it look like gas prices decreased greatly. When it actually only decreased by 0.05 cents.
1. 2. What conclusion does the graph suggest about the price of gas at the end of the day compared with the price at the beginning of the day?
a) That gas prices made a big jump down in the evening from the morning.
2 3. Describe how to redraw the graph to represent the data more accurately.
b) When redrawing the graph, don’t use an axis break.

1. Explain how this graph could be misleading.
a) They made the pizza really big, so it looks like pizza is the most popular food.
2. What conclusion does the graph suggest about favourite lunch specials?
b) It’s suggesting that pizza is the most popular food, and that mac and cheese is second.
3. How could you redraw the graph to represent the data more accurately?
c) You could make every picture the same size.

Good Job ! I liked the colours you used and your pictures were very big and clear. One thing that could've been improved was the writing was set up in a confusing way.

Awesome job! You used great colors and the pictures were also great. The explanation was very clear as well as the answers. Something that could be improved is there was a big space in between the pictures and the answers, besides that it was a good job.

Good job Binesi! Your scribepost was neat and colorful. The only thing I noticed were the big spaces.. But other than that, it was good. :)

Great job Binesi!! I liked how you made the pictures big enough and that you explained the answers very well. But I agree with them about the big spaces but still a very well done scribepost.

Hi Binesi

Mr Montgomery here. I teach maths to kids your age in Perth Western Australia.

Thanks for taking the time to write in your blog. I'm sure Mr Harbeck appreciates it.

A good post. I wonder if there were any questions you could have answered about the line graph at the top of your post.

Great job Binesi! I like how you added a lot of pictures and actually took pictures of them. I also like how your scribe was neat, although next time, you should limit the giant spaces. Only when their needed. Other than that. great job!

Good job ! Your scribe was simple and neat but you need to improve on using less space and making the pictures clearer.
