2 Minutes To Make A Difference Final Reflection
1)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2)Talk about the changes you made between the first and final cut of the movie. Were the student comments helpful in making your final cut better?
I changed the video by adding texts and adding animations.
5)If you did not find an expert tell us why you were unsuccessful. Be honest.

I didnt find any expert because I didn't get to find someone.
6)What was your greatest success in the 2 minutes project. What skills will you take away with you and use in the future?
Making this video really helped me and taught me how to make videos and how to make it better.
7)What frustrated you during the movie making process? What strategies did you use to become successful?
There wasn't anything hard about making the video and it was fun and it thought me to become a more better person.
8)Why is the 2 Minutes project important to Grade 8 Students?
2 Minutes is really important because it can really help us to be a better person than before and it can teach us about global warming and racism and such. It can also teach us to think of others before yourself.
9)How will you make a difference in the future?
I will recycle and tell my families to also recycle. I can also walk instead of taking the car or bus and do all sorts of things to save the planet step by step.

Celdrick's Fraction Growing Post
A)
B)Question 6 letter a
a)
or another way to solve it is:
4/1 x 1/2= 4/2 or 2
C)Question 5 letter a
3/5 ÷ 2=
D)7.A pitcher of orange juice is 2/3 full. If four students equally share the juice, what fraction of the full pitcher does each student get?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART 2
Fraction x Fraction
How I solved it:
Multiply 1 by 2 and you will get 2 (numerator)
Multiply 5 by 7 and it's 35 (denominator)
the answer is 2/35 (try to convert it as small as possible)
Mixed Number x Fraction
How I got the answer:
Step 1: Multiply the whole number by 6 and it equals 6..... Then add the 5 to the 6 and you will get 11...
so its 11/6
Step 2:
Multiply 11/6 with 3/10 and you will get 33/60.
Step 3: Simplify it....
divide it by 3
The answer would be 11/20
Mixed Number x Mixed Number
How I got it:
Step 1: Multiply 5 by 12 and then add 2 so you will get 62/12
Step 2: Multiply 4 by 23 and add 6 and you will get 92/23
Step 3: multiply 62/12 by 92/23 and you will get 5704/276
Step 4: Then divide it.... 276 will go to 5704 20 times and there will be 184 remaining. So its (20) 184/276
Step 5: Simplify
I simplified it by 4 and i got (20) 46/69
So the answer is (20) 46/69

Celdrick's Scribepost for December 14 2009
Today in class Ms. Usiskin asked us what we did on Friday. Then we corrected the question from the show you know. Then after, we had to pick one question from the textbook in page 92-94.
This is my question:
Question 21
An example of a Pythagorean triple is 3,4,5.
a) Multiply each number by 2. Show whether the resulting three numbers from a Pythagorean triple.
6,8,10 does form a Pythagorean triple. 6²+8²=10².
b) Multiply the numbers by 10. 60²+80²= 100².
It forms a Pythagorean relationship.
c) Are there ant natural numbers that could make a Pythagorean triple when being multiplied by 3,4,5?
No, there are no natural numbers that does not make a Pythagorean triple when 3,4, and 5 are multiplied by it.

Celdrick's Pay It Forward
Pay It Forward (Act of Kindness)
Part 1:
Pay it forward: For me pay it forward means that I should do something for someone else without getting anything back. (well except for a "thank you") Pay it forward is also when you help another person, then they will help another and then the other will help another and it goes on. If you start that you will see how big it will get. I know Pay it Forward only has a few words (3) but it really means a lot to other people. Like the guy that Trevor helped. He helped him because he was homeless and then the guy paid it forward, by stopping the girl from suiciding. At the end of the movie you saw that lots of people went outside Trevor's house just because he helped those people. So it's a really big thing when helping other people.
The Pay it forward movie really meant something for me. It thought me a lot of things. It will teach you to think first for others before yourself. It also helped me to be a more better person that I was before. Most people...well let's change it.... Lots of people have been bullied and they are not happy when they get bullied, like Trevor's friend. He was being bullied by those 3 guys. So if you ever get bullied just stand up and don’t be scared to fight back. (just kidding don’t..... it will only make things worse) What you can do is go to an adult like your teacher, principal, vice, or your parents and tell them that you’re getting bullied...... Bystanders it's your turn.... If you are bystanding don’t be scared, because that’s wrong. Just tell an adult.
Well.... here we go.. let’s check out what I did for Pay it forward.
Part 2:
For pay it forward I decided to pick babysitting for free. So I babysat my baby cousin. Her name is Julia. This is a picture of her. So I went to her house to start my pay it forward and I entered the house and saw her playing with her toys. So I just let her play for a couple more minutes and then I made her milk and I fed her. When I was feeding her milk, she squeezed the rubber part and milk started to squirt on her face. So I just grabbed a soft cloth and cleaned it up.

In this picture I was feeding her. This was time after there was milk on her face.

After I fed her we waited for a couple of minutes and I let her watch Tree house. The show was Franklin. When I watched Franklin, I got really bored. So I just forced myself to watch it. I really wanted to watch NBA and when I turned it on to NBA she got mad at me. So I just changed the channel back to Franklin.
So after watching I put her in the crib and I let her play some more games. She really likes to move. She kept on rolling and rolling on her crib.
Me and Julia playing.

After playing, I gave her the pacifier and I put it in her mouth. So just when I was starting to leave, she was making this weird sound and when I turned around, she was waving goodbye to me, and I just said goodbye.
Part 3:
So I quickly ran home and did the green sheet.
After babysitting I felt responsible, because I took care of Julia and fed her and played games with her. It was really fun playing with a kid like her age. You will really have fun. Then after I felt good it’s this feeling (I can’t really describe it). I didn’t get to ask her parents to pay it forward, because it was getting late and I forgot to. But I think that they will pay it forward to someone else, because they’re just like the person who will do something nice for someone else.
Part 4:
Pay it forward is really important. It will make a big change to the world and to other people who are bad. (who knows.. they might change) My Pay it forward was really fun. It kept me un bored, and it really helped Julia’s parents. So people should start thinking for other people first before themselves , do not get anything back example: money etc. Remember to Pay it forward.

Celdrick's Scribepost for Dec 4 2009
.jpg)
On Friday we had a one question quiz about estimating square roots and the question was: Estimate the square root 67. This is how you solve the problem.
First: Find the closest perfect square that is before 67 and after 67. It is between 64 and 91. The square root of 64 is 8 and 81 is 9.

Second: Check if its closer to 64 or 81. So now we see that it's close to 64.
Third: Estimate the square root; if 64's square root is 8 then we know that 67's square root is somewhere in 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3.
AND.. This is one question we did from the Home Work Booklet. Pg 28 question 3.

How I Stopped An Alien Invasion
It was a peaceful day in 2012 until there was an alien invasion!! We had to stop them by answering 3 questions. There was at least 300 of them.
Here are the 3 questions.
1) A small gear turns 18 times in the same
time that a large gear turns 4 times. How
many times will the large gear turn if
the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a
diagram to help set up a proportion and
solve the problem.

I solved this by multiplying 18 to 3 and what I did on the top i also had to multiply
4 by 3.
So x= 12
If the small gear turns 54 times the big gear will turn 12 times.
YEA... 100 aliens got eliminated! Only 200 more!
2) Two quarters have the same value as ten
nickels. What is the value of five quarters
in nickels?
quarters 2 5
------- = --- = ---
nickels 10 x
To find the value we have to divide 2 by 2 so we get 1.
So now divide 10 by 2 and we get 5.
Now 1 quarter equals 5 nickels.
We now multiply 1 by 5 and we'll get 5
Now multiply 5 by 5 and we get 25.
So x equals 25.
Five quarters equals 25 nickels.
Now 100 more of the aliens got eliminated.
Only 100 more aliens.
Only 1 more question.
3) David can saw a log into three pieces in
7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant
rate, how long will it take him to saw a
similar log into six pieces?
logs 3 6
---- = --- = ---
mins 7 x
So multiply 3 by 2 and we get 6.
Now we multiply 7 by 2.
So we get 14.
David can saw 6 logs in 14 mins.
Now one more 100 aliens got eliminated. But one of the alien had a baby!!
Should we eliminate it?
Here are the 3 questions.

Celdrick's Rate Growing Post
Ratio:A ratio is an expression that compares quantities relative to each other. The most common examples involve two quantities, but any number of quantities can be compared. Ratios are represented mathematically by separating each quantity with a colon – for example, the ratio 2:3, which is read as the ratio "two to three". The quantities separated by colons are sometimes called terms.
Rate:In mathematics, a rate is a ratio between two measurements, often with different units. If the unit or quantity in respect of which something is changing is not specified, usually the rate is per unit time. However, a rate of change can be specified per unit time, or per unit of length or mass or another quantity. The most common type of rate is "per unit time", such as speed, heart rate and flux. Rates that have a non-time denominator include exchange rates, literacy rates and electric flux.
In describing the units of a rate, the word "per" is used to separate the units of the two measurements used to calculate the rate (for example a heart rate is expressed "beats per minute"). A rate defined using two numbers of the same units (such as tax rates) or counts (such as literacy rate) will result in a dimensionless quantity, which can be expressed as a percentage (for example, the global literacy rate in 1998 was 80%) or fraction or as a multiple.
What is the difference between ratio and rate?
A ratio is the comparison between two numbers with the same unit. For example 3 oranges to two oranges. On the other hand, a rate is an indication of the measurements of different units per unit. For example, the statement 3 oranges/ person shows the relationship between the measurement of oranges per person
page 60;Question#4:
4. Determine the unit rate in each situation.
a) An orca swims 110 km in 2 h.

b) A Canada goose flies 800 km in 12.5 h.

64 km/hr
c) Cathy plants 45 daffodils in 30 min.

pg61; question 10
10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3 h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is
the faster cyclist? How do you know? They both have the same speed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the mistakes that I made from the test?
-I didn't read the questions carefully and didn't make it in lowest terms.
-I lost mistakes because I didn't show my work.
-I also lost marks from the multiple choice.
Next time there's a math test I will:
-Study harder
-read the questions carefully
-double check it when done
-use word ratios and complete the answer
Questions:
1) Eric is able to stop 85% of the shots on goal. If he faces 27 shots on goal, how many goals would likely be scored on him?

The three questions i picked are
a) What would be the ratio for green to total?
b) What is the ratio of blue to red?
c) What is the ratio of yellow to blue to toal?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the mistakes that I made from the test?
-I didn't read the questions carefully and didn't make it in lowest terms.
-I lost mistakes because I didn't show my work.
-I also lost marks from the multiple choice.
Next time there's a math test I will:
-Study harder
-read the questions carefully
-double check it when done
-use word ratios and complete the answer

Celdrick's scribepost question 20
Q: A 30 kg bag of fertilizer is labelled 15-20-10. This means that it contains 15% nitrogen, 20% phosphorus, and 10% potassium by weight. How many kilograms of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are in the bag?
Lets find out how many kilograms each ingredient is.
15% of 30= 4.5 kg
20% of 30= 6 kg
10% of 30= 3 kg
4.5+6+3= 13.5 kg
A: THERE IS 13.5 kg OF Phosphorus, Nitrogen, and Potassium in the bag.

Celdrick's Scibepost for October 14 2009
Today in class we were supposed to define the different kinds of ratios:
Two term ratio: Compares two quantities measured in the same units.
ex: 3:6 or 3 to 6
Three term ratio: is comparing three quantities measured in the same units.
ex:3,7,10
Part to part ratio: compares different parts of a group together
Part to whole: Compares the part of a group to the whole group.

Coin Math Part 2 Oct.13,2009
Today in math we corrected our coin math and saw what our mistakes was.
So we have to create another post to make our coin math more accurate.
First we created a ratio table and it looked like this.

So we figured out how many coins are in the jar. 4680(American)
Then Mr.Harbeck told us to answer 2 questions.
We know that the jar is 3/4 or 75%.
There is 4680 coins.(American)
We also know that if the jar is Canadian, it would be taller than 75%.
If you started to drop one coin a day you will finish in about 12 years.(American)
But if you do it in Canadian coins you would finish in about 12 years. But not on the same day.
American-Estimated 4680 to 4800 so I got 12 years.
Canadian-Estimated 4824 to 4800 and got 12 years....
Other question: Can you fill up the jar with 100$ American and 100$ Canadian?
Probably not.because we know that 100$ American coins is 75% so the jar would be over filled when you add the 100$ Canadian coin.
HOPE I DID IT RIGHT.....
Don't forget to comment.......

Celdrick's coin Math for October 12 2009

Our homework for math was to pick 2 question from these colors: blue, purple,or red.
These are the 2 questions that I picked:
1:How much do the coins add up to?
The total of the coins in the jar is $100.
If you share all the money to 10 people how many would each one get?
Each person will get $10
1st person=10
2nd=$10
3rd=$10
4th=$10
5th=$10
6th=$10
7th=$10
8th=$10
9th=$10
10th=$10
TOTAL=$100

Celdrick's Scibepost for October 6 2009
What I know about graphing:
1st: Make it neat. Make your graph stand out.
2nd: make sure you have labels and titles.
3rd: There are different types of graphs.
ex: bar graph, line graph, pictograph, double bar graph, double line graph.
bar graph:
A bar chart or bar graph is a chart with rectangular bars with lengths proportional to the values that they represent.
.jpg)
line graph:
A line chart or line graph is a type of graph created by connecting a series of data points together with a line.

pictograph:
A pictogramor pictographis a symbol representing an object or concept by illustration.

double bar graph:A double bar graph is like a bar graph.Double bar graph is usually used by surveying 2 people and putting their answers using 2 bars.

double line graph:
A graph that compares two different subjects over a period of time

How I can approve: I can approve by coloring it more and make it more attractive,I can approve by making a bar stand out. I can also improve by making a sentence or paragraph.I lost some mark because I didn't make a paragraph.

Celdrick's Scribepost for September
7. The table shows the heights of two friends
measured over time.

a) Use a double bar graph and a double
line graph to display the data.

b) How are the trends for Andrea and
Lewis similar? How are they different?
The trends are similar in that both friends’ heights are
increasing from age 2 to age 14. The trends are different
in that Andrea’s height stops increasing after age 14, but
Lewis’ height continues to increase after age 14.
c) Which graph do you think more clearly
shows each student’s height trend?
Explain your choice.
Because the data do not represent a comparison
of parts to a whole, a circle graph would not be a good
choice of graph.
d) Would two circle graphs be effective
for displaying the data? Explain why
or why not.
A pictograph could be used, but it
would not be as accurate as a bar graph because of the
fractions of pictures required to represent these data.
