Elvin Fauni 2 Minutes To Make A Difference Reflection

Google docs:

2) Talk about the changes you made between the first and final cut of the movie. Were the student comments helpful in making your final cut better?
The changes that we made was we added text and getting the comments from other students really helped us. But we should have added our voices but the quality was bad.

5) If you did not find an expert tell us why you were unsuccessful. Be honest.
We didn`t find our expert because we didn`t know who to ask and we didn`t get the chance to.

6)What was your greatest success in the 2 minutes project. What skills will you take away with you and use in the future?
The success was we finished it in time. Adding all of the text and doing it was really fun.

7)What frustrated you during the movie making process? What strategies did you use to become successful?
There wasn`t anything hard about making the movie because it was really easy and fun.

8)Why is the 2 Minutes project important to Grade 8 Students?
It can teach us to be more mature and think about our decision before doing something and to help us learn to do something about the planet.

9)How will you make a difference in the future?
I will make a difference by recycling and all of the stuff I can do to save Earth, one step at a time.

Elvin's Growing Post

Cylinder

How to find the TSA of a cylinder:

The cylinder has two circular bases.
The area of one circle is:
A = Ï€ × r2
A ≈ 3.14 × 0.3752
A ≈ 0.4415625
The area of the circle is
approximately 0.4415625 m2.

There are two circles, so the area
of both circles is approximately
0.883125 m2.

Calculate the total surface area.
S.A. ≈ 0.883125 + 5.652
S.A. ≈ 6.535125
The total surface area is approximately 6.54 m2

Rectangular Prism

How to find the TSA of a Rectangualar Prism:

Find the area of one circle.
A = Ï€ × r2
A ≈ 3.14 × 3.752
A ≈ 44.15625
The area of one circle is approximately 44.15625 cm2.
Find the area of two circles.
2 ×44.15625 = 88.3125
The area of both circles is approximately 88.3125 cm2.
Find the area of the rectangle using the circumference of the circle.
A = l × w
A = (Ï€ × d) × w
A ≈ 3.14 × 7.5 × 11
A ≈ 259.05

The area of the rectangle is approximately 259.05 cm2.
Calculate the total surface area.
Surface area = 88.3125 + 259.05
= 347.3625

Triangular Prism

How to find the TSA of a Triangular Prism:

a)
3 m
2.6 m
9 m

b) The bases of the prism are equilateral triangles.
The sides of the prism are rectangles.
3 m 3 m
9 m 2.6 m

rectangle triangle
A = l ×w A= (b × h) ÷ 2
A = 9 × 3 A = (3 × 2.6) ÷ 2
A = 27 A = 7.8 ÷ 2
A = 3.9
The area of one The area of one
rectangle is 27 m2. triangle is 3.9 m2.

Scribepost for November 30

Today we had to do a number line and label the perfect squares.

We also had a quiz about squares.

For the number line we had to label the squares from squares from 1-5
Which equals 1=1 2=4 3=9 4=16 =5=25

We also figured out what the patterns were.
One pattern was numbers between perfect squares.

The pattern that we had to do was what are the numbers between the spaces.

So for the first one we had to do 1 1/3, 2 2/3, 3 3/3

For 5 spaces

4 1/5, 6 2/5, 7 3/5, 8 4/5, 9 5/5

Our homework is what are the next numbers of the two spaces.

For 7 spaces and 9 spaces.

Jex already did a blog for SQUARES so I did today's blog.

Elvin's %%%%%'s Rate Growing Post

We had to Define ratio and Define Rate:

Ratio - It defines two quantities that are the same. Example 6:7

Rate - It defines two quantities that are related. Example Heart beats/seconds

Here's my 2 question.
4.) Determine the unit rate in each situation.
a.) An Orca swims 110 km in 2 h.
- 55 km/h
b.) A Canada goose flies 800 km in 12.5 hr.
- 64 km/h
c.) Cathy plants 45 daffodils in 30 min.
- 1.5 min for every daffodils.

10.) Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3 h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is the faster cyclist? How did you know?
- Trevor rode this bike 28 km/h.
- Jullian rode his bike 28 km/h.
- So they had the same speed.

BOB & RATIO

Today, we had to pick a picture for home work. I pick this picture.

Part to Part ratio:

Blue to Green
1 : 6

Red to Yellow
6 : 4
Yellow to Green
4 : 6

-------------------

Part to Total ratio:

Blue to Total 1:17

Yellow to Total 4:17

Green to Total 6:17

Red to Total 6:17

Red to Green to Total = 12:17

-------------------------------

Blue to Yellow to Green - 1 : 4 : 6

Red to Yellow to Green - 6 : 4 : 6

Here's my question!

1.)What would be the ratios of Red to total?

2.)What would be the ratios of Green to Yellow?

3.)What would be the ratio of Blue to Green to Yellow?

Ratio, question #16

I am doing question 16.

a.) Write the ratio of the length of A' B' compared to the length of the AB.
- the ratio of the length of A' B' is 1:2

b.) Write the ratio of the length of A' C' compared to the length of AC.
- The ratio of the length of A' C' is 1:2 or 1 to 2.

c.) Use your knowledge of ratio and percent to explain the meaning of a 50% reduction
- Each length is 1 of what it's originally was.

Elvin's jar coins scribepost

Our homework for math, must be do one Purple or one Blue or one Red.

1.Would the jar look the same if the jar was canadian?

-Yes, because it's still a jar.

2.If it was on bar graph which coin would appear the most and which would show the least?

-I think 1 cent would show the most, and 5 cents would show the least.

This are the questions that i picked...

elvin817 Scribepost Question 12 October

Question #12

12.a) Explain how this graph is misleading.
-this graph is misleading because the vertical scale goes from 0 to 500, but the greatest number of votes was less than 200. Therefore, it appears that all three candidates were close to winning, and the implies that all three candidates tied.

b.)Based on the graph, what can you conclude about the outcome of the voting?
-Answers may vary. Candidte B barely won the election.

C.)Does the data support the claim made in the title? If not, reword it to correct the misinformation.
-No, the votes were not divided evenly three ways. Answer may vary, a new title could be Election R.
