It was a cold winter night when I decided to go for a walk with my friends to the skatepark, just when we got to the middle of the field we seen some sort of object in the sky, at first we thought it was a star, or an astoriod. We decided to keep walking and once we got there this object flew down towards us, and one of my friends start running, I stayed to see what was in this huge object, nothing came out of it, but a voice came from it saying, "We need three proportion math questions answered quicky or we have the right to take over your planet, if you get them all right, we will have to go back to our planet." I was looking at this object and thought maybe it was an alien ship, I then ran home to figure out the answers for these questions, while I was at it, I thought maybe I would save the world, and be famous..
1.) q.5 . What is the unit rate in each?
a. 2 pens cost 94 cents
47 cents
b.Four blocks stacked one on top of the other are 24cm high.
6cm per block
2.) q.18 . At an amusment park a new thrill ride was introduced, it costs 7.50 for 3 rides.
a.What is the wild slider's unit rate per ride?
$2.50
b.At this rate, what would it cost for 18 rides on Wild Slider?
$45.00
3.) q.26 . Two circles have a ratio of 1 to 2, Use a diagram to help answer the following questions.
a). What is te ratio of their circumferences?
1/2
b). What is the ratio of their areas?
1/4
Not quiet knowing if I got it right and if it was okay, but they were still at the skatepark, I grabbed my paper i wrote the questions and answers on and quickly ran to the aliens, I showed them what I have done, and They flew away, my friends were happy, we didn't know what would happen next.
TheEnd.

The power of proportion!
I was walking to school, when I saw a UFO land on my school. I ran inside and saw that the aliens were holding Mr.Harbeck hostage, then he yelled. "Noel, save me with your proportion skills." Then I replied, "Don't worry Mr.Harbeck, Noel is here!" So then i grabbed a text book and yelled out the following question:
Delia was paid $35 for 5 h of babysitting. How much should she receive for 3 h? Use a unit rate to find the answer.
This is what I did:
I got to the unit rate per hour, that looked like this:
5h/5=1h
$35/5=$7
So then I got $7/hour.
I then had to get the $ for 3 hours:
1h x 3 = 3hours
$7 x 3 = $21
I saw that one of the tenticles that were holding Harbeck got loose, and it only had 2 tenticles left. So I hit him with another question:
David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 minutes. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into 6 pieces?
This is my answers:
To get from 3 pieces to 6 pieces you would have to double it, so I just doubled 7 minutes to get 14 minutes.
Then I noticed a liquid falling onto Harbeck's head, it was the aliens eyeballs. They melted so I decided to give another question a shot and it would die. Here was the last question:
Two quarters has the same value as ten nickels.
What is the values of five quarters in nickels?
Here's what I did:
I used a unit rate to find the answer to this question.
2 quarters / 2 = 1 quarter
10 nickels / 2 = 5 nickels
then I followed up with this;
1 x 5 = 5 quarters
5 x 5 = 25 nickels
Once I finished that sentence the alien exploded and the room was covered in green goo. Harbeck then thanked me and pressed on the intercom; "Office, Can you get Moses down here to clean this up."
THE END!

How I stopped an alien invasion
I was walking down the street when i saw a UFO in the air it was shining in my face then it landed right in front of me. Then a big ugly alien came out and said if you want to see your world again you better get these 3 questions right.
The answers that i said to the alien.....
4. a)3$
b)50
5.a) 2$
b)17
6. 21/3
Then the alien said my answers were right so he went back in his UFO and flew back to his planet and never came back.

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion
One night , I had to throw out the garbage, when suddenly a UFO light was shinning on my face, but I couldn't see what it was. When it landed, I started to run away from it, but when I looked back the aliens started running faster after me. After 15 minutes I got so tired that I hid in a garbage bin. The aliens got suspicious and stopped to start searching for my foot prints. When they saw half my footprints leading to the garbage bin, they started walking to it and tried to open it. I held it down so they couldn't open it, but they just kept on trying until they got it. When they opened it no one was there ! I was under all that stinky garbage the whole time, I got out when they left. When they left, I started to walk home. After a few blocks near my home , I saw something chasing after me , so I started to run, but when I got home I realized that it was my dog. After all that running, I took a shower, and went to bed. When I closed my eye, there was an alien right in front of me staring at me with wide beady eyes. THE END .
I'M VERY VERY SORRY , if this was late, because someone went on my google account and changed my password.

How I Stopped An Alien Invasion
It was a peaceful day in 2012 until there was an alien invasion!! We had to stop them by answering 3 questions. There was at least 300 of them.
Here are the 3 questions.
1) A small gear turns 18 times in the same
time that a large gear turns 4 times. How
many times will the large gear turn if
the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a
diagram to help set up a proportion and
solve the problem.

I solved this by multiplying 18 to 3 and what I did on the top i also had to multiply
4 by 3.
So x= 12
If the small gear turns 54 times the big gear will turn 12 times.
YEA... 100 aliens got eliminated! Only 200 more!
2) Two quarters have the same value as ten
nickels. What is the value of five quarters
in nickels?
quarters 2 5
------- = --- = ---
nickels 10 x
To find the value we have to divide 2 by 2 so we get 1.
So now divide 10 by 2 and we get 5.
Now 1 quarter equals 5 nickels.
We now multiply 1 by 5 and we'll get 5
Now multiply 5 by 5 and we get 25.
So x equals 25.
Five quarters equals 25 nickels.
Now 100 more of the aliens got eliminated.
Only 100 more aliens.
Only 1 more question.
3) David can saw a log into three pieces in
7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant
rate, how long will it take him to saw a
similar log into six pieces?
logs 3 6
---- = --- = ---
mins 7 x
So multiply 3 by 2 and we get 6.
Now we multiply 7 by 2.
So we get 14.
David can saw 6 logs in 14 mins.
Now one more 100 aliens got eliminated. But one of the alien had a baby!!
Should we eliminate it?
Here are the 3 questions.
1) A small gear turns 18 times in the same
time that a large gear turns 4 times. How
many times will the large gear turn if
the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a
diagram to help set up a proportion and
solve the problem.

quarters 2 5
------- = --- = ---
nickels 10 x
To find the value we have to divide 2 by 2 so we get 1.
So now divide 10 by 2 and we get 5.
Now 1 quarter equals 5 nickels.
We now multiply 1 by 5 and we'll get 5
Now multiply 5 by 5 and we get 25.
So x equals 25.
Five quarters equals 25 nickels.

How I stopped an alien invasion using proportions
It was a warm bad summer day in the year 2020 and the some of the most dangerous aliens were planning to invade the whole Earth by firing a SUPER laser at Earth unless we answer 3 proportional questions.

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion
One day, there were 2 boys named Rob and Bob. They were flying their kite when suddenly they saw something flying in the air other than their kite. It was coming closer by the second and eventually landed right beside them. It was a U.F.O! 2 aliens came out of a door that opened horizontally. They told us that if we don't solve 3 of their proportional questions, they'd rip our kite into pieces! We didn't want to lose our kite just yet because, we weren't done playing with it.
One alien said, "A small gear turns 18 times in the same that a large gear turns 4 times. How many times will the large gear turn if the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a diagram to help set up a proportion and solve the problem."
We replied with a drawing:

Also with a sentence: The large gear will turn 12 times if the small gear turns 54 times.
The other alien continued, "A gardener takes a half hour to mow and weed a lawn that measures 20 m by 15 m. He charges $25.00 per hour. How much should the gardener receive for a lawn that measures 40 m by 30 m?"
We answered with another drawing:

Also, another sentence: The gardener should receive $25.00 for mowing and weeding a 40m by 30m lawn.
Then, both aliens asked at the same time, "David can saw a log into 3 pieces in 7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into 6 pieces?"
Finally, we showed them another drawing:

Also, one last sentence: It will take him 14 min to saw a log into 6 pieces.
After answering their 3 questions, they hopped into their U.F.O. and flew away.
The End :)
Please comment.

How I Stopped An Alien Invasion Using Proportion
So I was on my way to school, about halfway I got a phone call. I answered the call and heard a strange sounding voice. They told me that if I didn't show up at my house in 10 minutes, they would attack my parents and doom the planet. I could not believe what was happening. They were holding my parents as hostage?! I ran as fast as I could, but stopped at McDonalds for a drink and continued on. I got there in 9 minutes and 59 seconds. As I got there, I noticed a strange vehicle had landed in the corner of my house. Once I got in, there were 2 purple transparent blobs holding my parents inside their stomach. The first thought that came into my mind was " well, that is just disturbing. " Then, out of the blue, 1 blob said " We Bloogies will not let go of your guardians nor doom your Earth, unless you answer 3 proportion problems. " This was the start of my new heroic actions.

The first problem they asked me was;
Delia was paid $35 for 5 h of babysitting. How much should she receive for 3 h? Use a unit rate to find the answer.
I answered " Delia should receive $21 for 3 h of babysitting " They made me show my work so here it was.
David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 minutes. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into 6 pieces?
My reply was " It would take him 14 mn to saw 6 pieces. " I once again had to show my work.

The last problem they asked me was;
Last night 30 cm of snow fell in 6 hours. If it continues snowing at the same rate, how long will it takefor 45 cm of snow to fall ?
My last and final answer was " It would take 9 hours for 45 cm of snow to fall "
Here was my proof.
After I answered all their problem, they spit out my parents in the most disturbing way and pleaded forgiveness. Soon finally, I forgave them and they scurried back to their home planet. The end.
Thaanks for reading (: Please leave a comment if you wish.
How I stopped an Alien Invasion with proportion :D

It was a beautiful summer night , a full moon plus many stars . I decided to go lay down on the deck and watch the stars , hoping for a shooting star ! I was very quiet , until i heard something flying high up above my head ! I looked up to see a large object of some sort, it was extremely fast . I closed my eyes , and made a wish .. * CRASH !* i ran out to whatever it was . It wasn't a shooting star , because there were lights on it . to my surprise , out popped a small weird looking creature . "Hello , I come in peace " . I saw it in movies , so i thought it would world . Apparently , they didn't like when i did that , the small creature then pulled out a ray of some sort . While pointing it at me , he said " Answer three of our questions . If you do not answer them correct , we destroy your planet . If you answer them correctly , we shall know you humans come in peace and we will leave to our planet ."

Draw a diagram to help set up a proportion and solve the problem.
In the same amount of time that the small gear turns 54 times, the large gear would have turned 12 times.

How i faught off aliens with knowledge of proportion
It all started when i woke up on saturday morning. I woke up to find an aliens UFO space shuttle on my front lawn. As i approached it, two small green human like aliens walked down the steps of the devious space machine. They told me that I, aswell as earth were doomed and threatened by these aliens. They said that they will spare us if they were taught some proportional knowledge. So I ran up to my bedroom and grabbed my math textbook and ran back outside.
I opened up my book to the chapter of proportion. I then pointed out one question that i wanted to show them, That question was :
What is the unit rate in two pens that cost 94 cents ?
This is how i answered it, I made a ratio table. The two aliens didn't seem too familier with the term ratio table. So i told them that it is a diagram that you can use to find a unit rate. Here is my table:
.Cents..Pens
--------------
......94..2
...../.........\
/2.........../2
.....\........./
......47..1
Do you see the ratio table ?
Good.
They still seemed a bit confused so then I desided to do a couple more questions, Another question I thought doing was this question :
A small gear turns 18 times in the same time that a large gear turns 4 times. How many times will the large gear turn if the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a diagram to help set up a proportion and solve the problem.
So this is how I answered it, The questions says to make a diagram, and my choice of diagram was a ratio table:
Small...Large
--------------
.......18..4
...../.........\
x3...........x3
.....\........./
.......54.12
One of the two aliens began to understand the concept of the ratio table, but the other was a little bit still unsure. So I decided to do another ratio table type of question just for him. That question was :
Two quarters has the same value as ten nickels.
What is the values of five quarters in nickels?
My ratio table looked like this :
NickelsQuarters
--------------
.......10.2.
...../.........\
/2.........../2
.....\........./
.......5.....1
...../.........\
x5...........x5
.....\........./
.......25...5
Both aliens then understood the concept of proportion and also learnt how to use a ratio table, and went away without doing any harm to our planet. And thats how i saved the earth from mass destruction from aliens with my mathematical knowledge. (your welcome)

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion
Aliens were planning to take over planet Earth , they made a deal and said if I could answer three proportional problems they would fly back to their planet and never come back to bother us .. Here are the questions they had asked me !
THE FIRST QUESTION THAT THE ALIEN ASKED ME WAS :
THE SECOND QUESTION THAT THE ALIEN ASKED ME WAS :

THE FIRST QUESTION THAT THE ALIEN ASKED ME WAS :
What is the unit rate in two pens that costs 94 cents ?
i solved it by doing this ..
THE SECOND QUESTION THAT THE ALIEN ASKED ME WAS :
At an amusement park , a new thrill ride was intorduced . It costs $7.50 for 3 rides on the Wild Slider . What is the Wild Slider's unit rate per ride ?
i solved it by doing this ..
THE THIRD AND LAST QUESTION THE ALIEN ASKED ME WAS :
Look at the pattern .Set up a proportion you could use to find the number of small squares in figure 7 .

i solved it by doing this ..

NOW THE ALIEN'S HAVE LEFT FOREVER AND HAD PROMISED THAT THEY WOULD NEVER COME BACK TO BOTHER US AGAIN ;D
How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion
When I got home from school, I had noticed that their was an oddly shaped vehicle parked in our backyard that turned out to be a UFO. I ran inside the house and found my parents tied to a chair and beside them were aliens. They told me that if I didn't solve three proportional questions, they would take my parents to their planet and blow up the earth. I had no choice but to obey them. The first question I had to solve was:
21. David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into six pieces? It will take David 14 minutes to saw a similar log into 6 pieces. I got 14 by multiplying 3 pieces by 2 to get 6 pieces and what you do to one side you to the other so I multiplied 7 min. by 2 to get 14 min.
They told me that this was just the start and it will get harder.
The second problem was:
20. A breakfast cereal contains corn, wheat, and rice in the ratio of 3 to 4 to 2. If a box of cereal contains 225 g of corn, how much rice does it contain? The box of cereal will contain 150 g of rice. A breakfast cereal contains corn, wheat, and rice in the ratio of 3 to 4 to 2. I took 3 from the ratio and multiplied it by 75 because a box of cereal contains 225 g of corn and to get from 3 to 225 you multiply by 75. To figure out how much rice the cereal contains, I took 2 from the ratio and multiplied it by 75 to get 150 g of rice.
They were starting to worry that their plan of blowing up the earth was not going to happen. I had answered two questions correctly, now it's time for the last question.
The last question was:
14. Last night 30 cm of snow fell in 6 h. If it continues snowing at the same rate, how long will it take for 45 cm of snow to fall? Determine the answer two different ways. It will take 9 hours for 45 cm of snow to fall. I got that by multiplying 30 cm by 1.5 to get 45 cm. I also multiplied 6 hours by 1.5 to get 9 hours.
Eventually I was able to solve the problems without having much trouble. They finally let my parents free and left the earth without blowing it up.
How I ROCKED an Alien Invasion
One night Commander James Seawalker was riding in his space cruiser, when suddenly we were sucked into a planet named D2E2. Once Commander James Seawalker stepped onto planet D2E2, weird things kept happening to his mind. At first he thought it was all a dream because he was seeing little green aliens, he slapped himself around a couple times and he figured out it wasn't a dream. He was heavily armed with his PROPORTION SABER, RATIO GUN and RATE GRENADES.
The first alien, Jeffery appeared out of the green. Commander Seawalker was challenged with his first attack.
Commander Seawalker grabbed his PROPORTION SABER and started to think.
David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into six pieces?

Commander Seawalker came up with an answer. He went up to Jeffery and said "It will take 14 minutes to cut a log into 6 pieces"
After saying his answer, Jeffery was so shocked that he got the answer he couldn't move, while he was paralyzed, he chopped up Jeffery into pieces.
Another Alien popped up out of no where. He said his name was Norman. "After seeing what you did you my best friend I'm going to throw another mind blowing question at you!!!"
James took out his PROPORTION SABER again but this time he held his RATIO GUN and got ready for the next question.
Last night 30 cm of snow fell in 6 h. If it continues snowing at the same rate, how long will it take for 45 cm of snow to fall?
Determine the answer two different ways.
Commander Seawalker didn't know what to do, but he had to answer or else he wouldn't be able to leave, so he thought really hard.

Commander Seawalker used both a proportion table and a ratio table to get his answer.
Once he figured out the answer, commander pointed his RATIO GUN at Norman, and with one shot he was gone forever.
Now Seawalker was roaming planet D2E2, he ran into THE SHOCKER and his army of troops. "WE WILL DESTROY YOU FOR ELIMINATING OUT BEST MEN. NOW YOU SHALL HAVE TO FACE THIS QUESTION!"
Commander Seawalker was awaiting his final challenge. In that time he got ready his RATE GRENADES. The Question that was going to determine if he was the best Commander in the world was...
Delia was paid $35 for 5 h of babysitting. How much should she receive for 3 h? Use a unit rate to find the answer.
All Commander Seawalker could do was laugh because it was such a easy question.

He said to THE SHOCKER that she will get paid $21 for 3 hours.
Commander Seawalker got a safe distance from THE SHOCKER and all his little troops, he threw all of his RATE GRENADES and finally destroyed the last of the evil mathematical aliens for good. He flew off on his space cruiser and went back to him home planet, earth. He told everyone about how he landed on planet D2E2. Everyone thought he was a nerd, but also a hero.
THE END.

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion
It was just like any ordinary day but then UFO landed and threatened to take over the Earth unless I answer 3 of their proportional questions correctly.Their first question was:
A small gear turns 18 times in the same time that a large gear turns 4 times. How many times will the large gear turn if the small gear turns 54 times? Draw a diagram to help set up a proportion and solve the problem.
In the same amount of time that the small gear turns 54 times, the large gear would have turned 12 times.
The alien said it was right but not to be too happy because it was probably just a fluke. I have 2 more to go until saving the Earth.Question 2 is:
Look at the pattern. Set up a proportion you could use to find the number of small squares in Figure 7.
In figure 7, there would be 14 squares.
I could see the alien getting nervous and starting to sweat which meant I was correct and all I needed was one more question to go.
The third and last question is:
The dosage of a certain medicine for a child is 2.5 mL for each 3 kg mass of the child. What is the dose, in millilitres, for a child with a mass of 16.5 kg?
For a child with a mass of 16.5 kg, they will have a dose of 13.75 ml of the medicine.
The alien got very disappointed because he couldn't take over the Earth but kept his word and immediately left.THE END
Alien pwnage.
One day in math class, our teacher told us to solve these three proportional problems. Nobody would listen and solve the problems so our teacher got mad. All of a sudden, he turned into this freakish alien! He threatened to vanish us all if we didn't solve the three problems. So these were the questions, and how I solved them.
1. Delia was paid $35 for 5 hours of babysitting . How much should she receive for 3 hours?

Delia will receive $21 for babysitting in 3 hours.
2. Two quarters has the same value as ten nickels. What is the values of five quarters in nickels?

The value of 5 quarters nickles is 25 nickles which equals $1.25.
3. Last night 30cm of snow fell in 6 h. If it continues snowing at the same rate, how long will it take for 45m of snow o fall? Determine the answer in two different ways.

There will be 45 cm of snow in 9 hours.
After I solved these problems my teacher turned back to normal, and my whole class was safe.
THE END. :)

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion

I was captured by aliens. They were boring. Then told me to do 3 proportion problems or they'd blow up earth. With nothing better to do I just did what they told me.
Two quarters have the same value as ten nickels. What is the value of five quarters in nickels?
There are 25 nickels for every 5 quarters.
The next question they asked me was this:
At an amusement park, a new thrill ride was introduced. It costs $7.50 for 3 rides on the Wild Slider.
a) What is the Wild Slider’s unit rate per ride?
rides/$ 3/7.50 3/3=1 7.50/3=2.50 $2.50/per ride
b) At this rate, what would it cost for 18 rides on Wild Slider?Determine the answer two different ways.
rides/$ (take the unit rate) 1/2.50 1x18=18 2.50x18=45
It costs 45 dollars for 18 rides.
The second way I did this was starting from just 7.50 for 3 rides.
3/7.50 3x6=18 7.50x6=45 it's almost the same thing, just a little different.
The third problem they gave me to solve was this:
David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 min. If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into six pieces?
Logs & pieces/minutes 3/7 3x2=6 7x2=14 6/14
It will take 14 minutes to saw a log into 6 pieces.
They just left not saying anything. I found out later that they had been a hallucination because of a new medication I had been prescribed, I was sort of disappointed.
How I Stopped An Alien Invasion Using Proportion
I was attacked by aliens. They held me as hostage and they would not let me go unless I solved 3 proportional problems.
They gave me the first proportional problem and I solved it correctly. This is how I solved it .
1. Delia was paid $35 for 5 hours of babysitting . How much should she receive for 3 hours?
I divided 5h by itself and got to an hour . Then I divided $35 by 5 and got to $7. I multiplied 1h by 3 and I got 3h. Then I multiplied $7 by 3 and got $21.
Delia will receive $21 for babysitting in 3 hours .
The aliens gave me the second proportional problem and I solved it correctly. This is how I solved it.
2. David can saw a log into three pieces in 7 minutes . If he continues sawing at a constant rate, how long will it take him to saw a similar log into six pieces?
3 pieces of log multiplied by 2 would equal 6 pieces . So then I multiplied 7 minutes by 2 and got 14.
It will take 14 minutes for David to saw 6 pieces.
The aliens gave me my final proportional problem and I solved it correctly. This is how I solved it.
3. Last night 30 cm of snow fell in 6 hours . If it continues snowing at the same rate , how long will it take for 45 cm of snow to fall ?
I divided 6h by 6 and got to 1h. Then I divided 30cm by 6 and got to 5. I multiplied an hour by 9 and got to 9h . Then I multiplied 5cm by 9 and got to 45cm.
It will take 9 hours for 45cm of snow to fall .
The aliens released me and went home crying . x]

How I stopped an Alien Invasion using Proportion

I was flying a kite at the park when a big UFO came and crashed in the park.
A alien came out of the UFO and was looking at the damages to his ship,
He turn and looked at me with an evil glare then said answer 3 proportion questions
Or your planet will be doomed, so i had to answer them and quickly so these are the proportion questions the alien forced me to answer.
The first Question the alien asked me to answer is:
Two quarters has the same value as ten nickels.
What is the values of five quarters in nickels?

The value of 5 quarters nickles is 25 nickles witch equals $1.25.
The second question he forced me to answer is:
Delia was paid $35 for babysitting for 5 hours
How much should she receive for 3 hours?

She will receive 21 dollars for 3 hours of babysitting.
The last question he forced me to answer is:
Last night 30cm of snow fell in 6 h.
If it continues snowing at the same rate, how long will it take for 45m of snow o fall?
Determine the answer in two different ways.
A)

There will be 45 cm of snow in 9 hours.
B)

After i was done all the proportion questions he was pleased to see what i did and he left
are planet and went back to his using his friend that came and picked him up
in a UFO and they were gone. so i went back home and went to bed after a long day of proportion. :)
